CADILLAC AREA UPDATE via Coyote Crossing Resort >> 01/18 Latest Trail Conditions Good morning! We wanted to update from yesterday’s report, as we’re being told trails range from Poor to Good now. Minimal grooming due to the small amount of base. There are random dirty areas throughout the system, with little to no base in those areas, due to heavy traffic on Friday. It’s snowing lightly now and snow is in the forecast. Thin stretch between Boon and Mesick but lots of real good stretches on the trail. Railroad grade to Thompsonville is fair. Gets better the further north you get. Expecting busy traffic since it’s “free riding” weekend and MLK. We’ll have a bonfire going in the Coyote Corral on Saturday with drinks for sale outside! Hadn't been on trail 3 out of Irons this year. they moved it from the power line to Peacock Rd but the signage stopped after a few miles. We found the trail signs again on Stronch Dam Rd. the spicy bloody mary was great. see you soon hopefully WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> After the warm temperatures and melting snow during the day today (Thursday)...temperatures will drop off rapidly after sunset. This will lead to any wetness re-freezing on area roadways, which could lead to icy roadways and/or black ice formation tonight through Friday morning. Back roads, which became slushy today will refreeze as well, leading to complicated driving conditions. “After receiving another 22" of snow in the last 9 days, our total snowfall has reached a whopping 58.5" for the month of January! With no thaws during the entire month, the snow has really piled up, and it's been a welcome change from last winter. We are loving every minute of it.”
