The trails are holding steady in fair condition after yesterday’s brief warm up. The groomers are out this morning working on repairing the trails. Some areas may be a bit thin, but there’s still plenty to enjoy. Temperatures have dropped back down and it will be staying cold for a while. Enjoy the ride and stay safe!
Check out this live feed to see trail #7, just north of Gaylord.
A few things to remember about groomers:
– Groomers are out there to help you have a better riding experience and always have the right of way. – Please move off the trail when groomers are coming and allow them to safely pass. – If you approach a groomer from behind, kindly wait for the operator to signal you to pass. – Grooming can take place at any time during the day or night. – Have fun and stay safe!

20 degrees and quiet in Frederic. Sled traffic was slow all day yesterday with reports from people of not great trails and of course we have had no new snow. I shoveled snow against the sides of one of my rental houses last night. I had not been back there all winter and there was only about 4 inches of snow there. So that means everything that we have had this winter settled into that 4 inches and the ground wasnt even frozen. It supposed to be below zero the next few days and the north winds have picked up pretty good here this morning. I checked the 2 grayling hotels this morning and days inn had 6 trailers and ramada had 16. Thats the most I have seen there this winter and I hope those guys get a decent ride but its pretty sparse for snow around town. Thanks for checking in. Pete

SNOW FALL FRIDAY WEATHER UPDATE via Meteorologist Brad Sugden >> TIMING POST! This is for Friday, February 28th into Saturday, March 1st. Notice the heavy snow across the UP through almost the entire day. This is why some areas will go up to 11" or maybe even slightly more. Winds will be HOWLING. Gusts over 50mph are likely. This can lead to blizzard conditions. I wouldn't be surprised to see some typical problem spots have road closures (M-28). #miweather#keweenaw#westernup#marquette#... See MoreSee Less
WEATHER UPDATE via Meteorologist Brad Sugden >> Winter ain't done with us just yet! A vigorous clipper system barrels through tomorrow bringing a nice swath of heavy snow to parts of the UP. The further south you go, the later in the day it'll be. Likely around the evening drive home a burst of snow moves through quickly coating the ground. This is along an arctic cold front that drops our temps for several days. #miweather#keweenaw#westernup#marquette#munising#seney#newberry#soo#... See MoreSee Less
JORDAN VALLEY AREA UPDATE via Jordan Valley Trails Council >> Trail Update: The last 3 days have been 40*+ and very sunny today. Thankfully we didn’t get the inch of rain they were calling for! FREDERIC - GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic , Michigan Snowmobiling >> Its rock hard and 20 degrees out there this morning. I posted a video a bit ago and it was the grayling groomer heading north and like I thought they were coming to pick up the drag they left by the Swamp a few days ago. The hitch is repaired on the groomer but there is no grooming going to happen until or when we get new snow. Its amazing how fast it goes. So to me it looks like we had about 16 days of goo... WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> A little light snow is possible along the M-55 corridor today…with better chances for light snow and/or rain on Thursday as a clipper moves through. Attention turns to a more potent system Friday, which will bring a strong temperature gradient over the area, as well as potential for accumulating snow. March will start off much colder, with highs in the teens to lower 20s on Saturday…though a slow warm-up is possible for ear... See MoreSee Less
