TRAVERSE CITY AREA UPDATE via Ranch Rudolf >> 01/21 Even the banks of the Boardman River are frozen and ice chunks are floating down stream-truly don’t think I’ve ever seen that before. Currently -18 degrees in the valley. But no wind and beautiful blue sky- honestly a beautiful day ☀ ❄ Horses and livestock are doing amazing! Temperatures also climb above freezing through the overnight, remaining there until Thursday evening. The bad news is that gusty winds return late tonight into Thursday. Snow will continue to spread across the area, leading to 1-2" of wet accumulations for many south of the bridge before switching over rain. Strong winds are expected today with gusts to 40+ mph, potentially leading to more down trees and limbs from recent icing. This could lead to dangerous conditions for those without power or a safe source of heat.
