TRAVERSE CITY AREA UPDATE via Grand Traverse Area Snowmobile Club >> 01/23 Well, our 1 to 3 inches forecasted for today turned into a Winter Storm Warning. I just returned from a groom and there is 6 inches of fresh on the southern part of the trails and up to 10-12 inches as we went north. Today, I trained our newest groomer driver Mike. He did an outstanding job for his first time in the seat. Thanks Mike for joining the team. In addition, (I forgot to mention in yesterdays post) Pat trained Jim on the north trail! Welcome aboard gentleman we appreciate the help. Get out and ride those trails!! This will lead to any wetness re-freezing on area roadways, which could lead to icy roadways and/or black ice formation tonight through Friday morning. Back roads, which became slushy today will refreeze as well, leading to complicated driving conditions. I’m 7 miles south of pine stump and we’ve gotten well over 2 foot in the last 48 hours alone. There’s way more than 50” out there. Way more than 75 even.
