TRAVERSE CITY AREA UPDATE via Grand Traverse Area Snowmobile Club >> 01/23 Well, our 1 to 3 inches forecasted for today turned into a Winter Storm Warning. I just returned from a groom and there is 6 inches of fresh on the southern part of the trails and up to 10-12 inches as we went north. Today, I trained our newest groomer driver Mike. He did an outstanding job for his first time in the seat. Thanks Mike for joining the team. In addition, (I forgot to mention in yesterdays post) Pat trained Jim on the north trail! Welcome aboard gentleman we appreciate the help. Get out and ride those trails!! Temperatures also climb above freezing through the overnight, remaining there until Thursday evening. The bad news is that gusty winds return late tonight into Thursday. Snow will continue to spread across the area, leading to 1-2" of wet accumulations for many south of the bridge before switching over rain. Strong winds are expected today with gusts to 40+ mph, potentially leading to more down trees and limbs from recent icing. This could lead to dangerous conditions for those without power or a safe source of heat. Does anyone have any information that would explain why Antrim County was excluded from the the governor’s State of Emergency?
