IRONWOOD – WESTERN U.P. UPDATE via Gogebic Range Trail Authority – ORV & Snowmobile Club >> 02/02 Trail 2 was groomed last night Hurley to Marenisco. Trail 2 is in good condition at this time. Trail 8 was groomed from trail 2 to Tula. Trail 8 is in good condition at this time. Trail 160 was groomed from trail 2 to the Teepee Trail 160 is moderate at this time. WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> Moderate to heavy snow at times moves into the southern sections of the U.P. late tonight and continues into Monday morning. Hazardous travel conditions are expected for the Monday morning commute! The heaviest snowfall is expected over Menominee County. Lesser snowfall amounts are forecast for the north half of the U.P. and the Keweenaw should remain dry. Gusty westerly winds remain possible over the Keweenaw tonight. The other pictures are from trail 3 heading east out of Watersmeet. Groomers reported very high traffic yesterday. Stay right and stay safe. Always be looking for oncoming traffic. The trails are not a one way system. Be safe out there and enjoy your time. Grooming is not holding up very well. Hopefully we get the snow that is in the forecast. As a result, plan on slippery road conditions tonight into Sunday morning. Thank you!! 8e to Ewen was groomed and is improving but still a heavily traveled trail and get's bad by afternoon. 13n well it was attempted, long story short, machine spun out on the hills and had to turn around.
102 was also covered, but without a drag. Main purpose was to knock down moguls and flatten berms.
We'll be sending a machine up 13n tonight without a drag to try and get that section back under control. We got the snow and we definitely have the traffic! Be patient, we'll get caught back up. Today was one for the books! I had the absolute pleasure of riding with my friend Art, a true legend on the trails. His motto is, “It’s not about the miles, it’s about the smiles,” and let me tell you—I smiled a LOT today.
We hit the backcountry, carving through the wilderness, and it was all I could do to keep pace with this 73-year-old adventurer. His energy, skill, and pure love for the ride are nothing short of inspiring.
