BENZIE / MANISTEE UPDATE via Benzie Manistee Snowbirds – 02/03 Warning – Trail #3 hazard in Maple City. Just wanted to make everyone aware of the Trail #3 hazard in Maple City. There are large power poles laying on the ground adjacent to our groomed trail. They are located just south of W. Burdickville Rd. as you ride to the Broomstack Kitchen & Taphouse. The hazard has yellow caution tape and orange cones marking it. Temperatures also climb above freezing through the overnight, remaining there until Thursday evening. The bad news is that gusty winds return late tonight into Thursday. Snow will continue to spread across the area, leading to 1-2" of wet accumulations for many south of the bridge before switching over rain. Strong winds are expected today with gusts to 40+ mph, potentially leading to more down trees and limbs from recent icing. This could lead to dangerous conditions for those without power or a safe source of heat.
