Gaylord Area Trail Report – 02/10
Gaylord Bureau – February 8, 2025 9:20 AM We’ve had heavy traffic on the trails and they are currently in fair condition. Groomers are running around the clock and will continue to do so to create the best trail conditions possible. Fresh snow is on the way this weekend, too! Saw both Grayling groomers out and about this morning. Rode 50 miles yesterday afternoon and I still say this is the best snow in years. Supposed to be some light snow each day this week so that is good and the temps should be great too. I think that there is so much great snow out there that it has all the riders spread out everywhere. Went off to rescue a couple of friends that blew a belt about 15 miles from Frederic after I got back here from our ride so that was another little adventure. Also Big John & Trent rode back into Frederic after their 3 day 800 mile run to the u.p. and back. They left Melstrand at 5:15 a.m. and were back to Frederic by 2. Thats a power run. Temperatures also climb above freezing through the overnight, remaining there until Thursday evening. The bad news is that gusty winds return late tonight into Thursday. Snow will continue to spread across the area, leading to 1-2" of wet accumulations for many south of the bridge before switching over rain. Strong winds are expected today with gusts to 40+ mph, potentially leading to more down trees and limbs from recent icing. This could lead to dangerous conditions for those without power or a safe source of heat. – Please move off the trail when groomers are approaching and allow them to safely pass.
– If you approach a groomer from behind, kindly wait for the operator to signal you to pass.
– Grooming can take place at any time during the day or night, so stay alert.
– Always ride on the right side of the trail.
