FREDERIC / GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic – 02/12
It’s hammer time again and I have my sled out front and I am gonna go for a ride. The snow is supposed to start about noon and we are supposed to get another 3 to 6 inches. Trails are still holding well from what riders tell me. Cold is supposed to continue thru next week.
I need to get some gas in my sled as when I got back from Sundays ride my gas light was flashing. Not sure where I am going but thinking about jordan valley. Thanks for checking in. Pete

WEATHER UPDATE via Meteorologist Brad Sugden >> FINAL UPDATE! SNOW TIME! Basically the same map, but I just lowered the lower end a little bit. Not that I don't think the higher end of the range is possible, it is, but I think it'll be a bit wider than a 3" spread in some of my contours. Please see previous posts for timing and impacts! #miweather #gaylord#cadillac#benzie#traversecity#petoskey#straitsarea #soo #newberryFINAL UPDATE! SNOW TIME! WEATHER UPDATE via Meteorologist Brad Sugden >> UPDATE: Posted at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 11th. I've seen the afternoon model runs and decided to let this forecast ride for now. I'm confident with the data I saw that this is still a decent map. I will be totally transparent, I was considering lowering by about one inch across the board, but I do think there is enough moisture available for some 9" totals, so I'll let it ride. Also, lowering by one inch doesn't change any impacts to you, so what's the point? .... #miweather #gaylord#cadillac#benzie#traversecity#petoskeyUPDATE: For social media ease I have swapped out my original pic on this post for this updated snow map. I don't want the confusion of multiple snow maps around social media. For transparency my original before my updated ranges will be in the comments π

IMPACTS: Lots of snow, some wind, cold temps, difficult travel, icing near Detroit / Monroe County, bad commutes Wednesday night and Thursday morning. Those things don't really care whether it's 6 or 7 inches, right? Still high impacts. haha.
If I decide to make adjustments based on new data coming in later today, tonight, or even early tomorrow I will absolutely let you know!
Forecasting is like throwing a dart at a dartboard that is moving. The closer you get, the better your odds are of hitting something you want or a bullseye! Meteorologists and scientists adjust their predictions, hypothesis, etc with new data all the time. There is nothing wrong with it. We can't be wrong before the storm even starts π haha.
Please check my previous posts for more information and follow along for the slew of posts coming the rest of the day and leading up to the storm!
My subscribers will get information on Saturday's system. I need to keep this feed focused on one storm at a time to avoid confustion.
What you need to know about Saturday: Another swatch of snow causing travel difficulties for the Lower Peninsula. π
