TRAVERSE CITY AREA UPDATE via Grand Traverse Area Snowmobile Club >> 02/12 Groomer Jeff V. groomed the east route. Jeff reported near excellent conditions. He said the forecasted 4-6 inches of fresh snow will make all the difference. Groomer Pat groomed the north and said your path to Peegeo’s is awaiting you. Get out there and ride and enjoy some great food. I've seen the afternoon model runs and decided to let this forecast ride for now. I'm confident with the data I saw that this is still a decent map. I will be totally transparent, I was considering lowering by about one inch across the board, but I do think there is enough moisture available for some 9" totals, so I'll let it ride. Also, lowering by one inch doesn't change any impacts to you, so what's the point? .... #miweather #gaylord #cadillac #benzie #traversecity #petoskeyUPDATE: For social media ease I have swapped out my original pic on this post for this updated snow map. IMPACTS: Lots of snow, some wind, cold temps, difficult travel, icing near Detroit / Monroe County, bad commutes Wednesday night and Thursday morning. Those things don't really care whether it's 6 or 7 inches, right? Still high impacts. haha.
If I decide to make adjustments based on new data coming in later today, tonight, or even early tomorrow I will absolutely let you know!
Forecasting is like throwing a dart at a dartboard that is moving. The closer you get, the better your odds are of hitting something you want or a bullseye! Meteorologists and scientists adjust their predictions, hypothesis, etc with new data all the time. There is nothing wrong with it. We can't be wrong before the storm even starts 🙂 haha.
