Gaylord Area Trail Report – 02/22

Gaylord Bureau –

February 21, 2025

4:05 p.m.

We’ve got more great news on grooming! As you may know, both of our groomers are currently out for repairs. Our neighboring communities are lending a hand and several of our trails will be getting some attention. Yesterday the Lewiston groomers did Trail #4 and 404 to the east. The Grayling groomers just took care of Trail #7 from Frederic to Gaylord and back. Indian River groomers will be on Trail #7 tonight from Wolverine to Gaylord and back.

Please give a big wave to these groomers if you see them out and about! They are going above and beyond to help our their snowmobiling friends and the Gaylord community. We extend a sincere thank you to them for their efforts!

Keep in mind, our other trails are in fair shape but will likely get bumpier. We will keep you updated on the status of our groomers and let you know once grooming resumes. Ride safe and stay tuned for updates!

Check out this live feed to see trail #7, just north of Gaylord.

A few things to remember about our groomers and trails:

– Groomers are out there to help you have a better riding experience and always have the right of way.
– Please move off the trail when groomers are approaching and allow them to safely pass.
– If you approach a groomer from behind, kindly wait for the operator to signal you to pass.
– Grooming can take place at any time during the day or night, so stay alert.
– Always ride on the right side of the trail.
– Ride safe and ride sober.

Sledheads of Frederic – 02/22

It’s a quiet, cool and windy afternoon in Frederic. Lots of sleds over at the swamp but I havent heard much brapping going on out there. Steady flow of riders thru here this morning and its now about 1:30 and only 24 degrees. Thats good cause predictions were for warmer than that today. Snow settled a little bit yesterday but we still have an awful lot of snow on the ground. I heard of a serious crash yesterday on trail 7 out by 5 mile road south of Grayling. It didnt sound good so Please ride safely and under control. I always say those sleds will kill you in the blink of an eye. Thanks for checking in. Pete

Here's the latest snow depth map from the National Weather Service as we go into the weekend (February 21, 4:40pm). This is the best snow depth map we have seen in a long, long time. With the slight warmup next we this might be the best snow depth map for the season, so get out and enjoy the snow this weekend! #MIWeather #keweenaw #westernup #marquette #munising #SENEY #newberry #Soo #straitsarea #gaylord #cadillac #houghtonlake #benzie #traversecity #petoskey ... Anyone know trail conditions near Lewiston?

2days in Keweenaw and trails were horrible. 3,17 were badly beaten. Ugh

A map with no legend is completely useless

Dale Stevenson where are you?!

Luzerne!

This is the best snow depth map I've ever found. It's never steered me wrong. I can absolutely count on it to find the best snow.

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> Other than some lingering snow showers across the northwest snowbelts… conditions turn quiet tonight with partly cloudy skies and lows around 10 degrees for most locations. Chances of light snow showers do continue this weekend, but the gradual warming of temperatures will be a big relief from the hard winter conditions we've endured. #miweather #gaylord #cadillac #benzie #traversecity #petoskeyOther than some lingering snow showers across the northwest snowbelts… conditions turn quiet tonight with partly cloudy skies and lows around 10 degrees for most locations.
