Newberry Area Trail Report – 02/27

NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via Pine Stump >> 02/27

I keep seeing all the posts about springs here and the snows all gone. Dont put your snowmobiles away yet ladies and gentlemen!
I went for a little spin this morning to see how things help up to our few warm days

There is a lot of snow on the trails still. The groomers weren’t out yesterday so the trails are bumpy. I’ve seen them a lot bumpier. I would guess the clubs will all be out tonight it’s supposed to get cold

The videos are of trail 9 going north of pine stump towards trail 8, trail 8, and trail 9. The trail going north towards trail 8 is the best it’s been in years! 8 has plenty of snow and was bumpy but not terrible . Trail 9 going south has plenty of snow but was bumpier than trail 8 for sure. They should all get groomed up nice tonight and be ready for a good weekend!

We are getting into early spring conditions. Towns will probably be a little challenging.

We have a bunch of parking out back for anyone that needs it. Then you’re in the good snow!

This weekend should be good and next weekend as well.

We are prepping for the vintage show on the 15th. The first half of March should be good and I bet you can ride until the end of the month unless something crazy happens!

NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via Trails End Lodging >> 02/27

The snow is starting to fall in Windy Corners. While the warm temps did melt some snow away we fared well and there is still plenty of snow on the ground. With fresh snow coming it should be a great weekend!

PARADISE AREA UPDATE via Paradise Area Night Riders www.paradiseareanightriders.org >> 2/28/25
Well, it looks like winter has decided to return! The last couple of days the temps have been in the 30`s, day and night. This morning it is 21 degrees and snowin and blowin HARD. We are under a winter storm warning and "they" are saying anywhere from 4-10"....hmmmmm. As far as the trails....here ya go.....
Groomer Keith hit the Pine Stump trails 8 and 9 yesterday/last night and called them good.
Groomer Ben hit the Point trails 452 and 453 and called them good to go.
Groomer Mike C. hit the south trail 8 and called that good also.
I haven`t heard from the guy that hit the Falls trail 45 but I gotta assume that it is good to go too. We will hit every trail today again and for the weekend then see what happens with the temps. They are supposed to go up again in the beginning of the week for a few days.
All trails are flat cause we can groom with the warmer temps but hard due to the temps turning colder. This snow sure will help with lubrication tho. The warmer weather the last few days did take a toll on the plowed connector dirt roads. They are down to mud....frozen mud now....so a little tough...but only very short distances.
COME ON U.P.!!!!!! Time is runnin out!!!!! There is still A LOT of snow in the woods but It looks like March will be a cycle of warm/cold/warm/cold, so ya never know what will happen next.
LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> The first round of wet snow has pushed into much of the UP this morning. While several areas may see a lull in the precipitation this afternoon, a rain/snow mix may be seen this afternoon in many areas. As the low pressure passes this afternoon, winds swing to the north and become quite gusty, with Lake Superior shoreline locations potentially seeing gusts to 45 mph. SNOW FALL FRIDAY WEATHER UPDATE via Meteorologist Brad Sugden >> TIMING POST! This is for Friday, February 28th into Saturday, March 1st.
Notice the heavy snow across the UP through almost the entire day. This is why some areas will go up to 11" or maybe even slightly more.
Winds will be HOWLING. Gusts over 50mph are likely. This can lead to blizzard conditions. I wouldn't be surprised to see some typical problem spots have road closures (M-28). #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsarea #gaylord #cadillac #benzie #traversecity #petoskey

WEATHER UPDATE via Meteorologist Brad Sugden >> Winter ain't done with us just yet! A vigorous clipper system barrels through tomorrow bringing a nice swath of heavy snow to parts of the UP. The further south you go, the later in the day it'll be. Likely around the evening drive home a burst of snow moves through quickly coating the ground. This is along an arctic cold front that drops our temps for several days. #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsarea #gaylord #cadillac #benzie #traversecity #petoskeyWinter ain't done with us just yet!
