No doubt the trails all took a hit, but we’ll update when we can on how things shake out. The snow line isn’t too far to our west, so areas over that way should be in much better shape. Strong wind gusts of up to 50 mph along Lake Superior shores and in the Keweenaw remain possible; causing sporadic power outages. I see the small NW shift on the Euro. However, the HRRR and GFS have been doing well this season and are holding steady with my map below.
This will start after sunset tonight and continue through very early Thursday.
The 24" potential is in the high terrain west of Marquette NOT for the city itself. I think a foot is possible there, though! Marquette is in my 10-14" / 12-16" band so essentially 10-16" of snow.

The heaviest totals will be from southwest IA up to the western U.P. with amounts of 5" or greater. A rather sharp cutoff is expected on the eastern edge as it will be warmer, but convective precipitation also decreases. I have some mixed news, as is usually the case this time of the year. I took a ride down 49 from the Soo to Kinross to see our friends at The Well Diggers Ass. Also hit 472 to 494 around the airport in Kinross.
The city trails, trail 49 to 9 mile, and trail 8 were excellent with lots of base and snow coverage. 49 gets thin south of 9, with dirt patches showing in the parts where the sun hit. Definitely could have used scratchers too. I was running hot. 472 and 494 haven’t been groomed due to a couple of calls ins and warm temps, so they are rough. We’ll do what we can as soon as we can.
Everything is totally rideable, but know that roads are bare again so trails that have sections along the road like 49 south have tricky sections.
There is snow in the forecast for tomorrow and Wednesday, so we’ll see how it shakes out.
Spring riding conditions are here, especially south of the Soo.
