Sault Ste. Marie Area Trail Report – 03/06

SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 03/06

3/6/25
Ok folks, more mixed news. The Soo saw rain all day yesterday. We got maybe 2”, of snow (probably less), at my place last night, and even less to our south toward kinross. 49 south of basically 9 mile was already really thin so I’m sure the rain took a real toll on it. What’s left is likely solid ice over dirt.

Now for the good news! The snow line was just to the west of the Soo. These pics are from Turbo this morning. These are from the road, looking at the trail crossings in the Bay Mills area. They received more snow than the Soo for sure, and the 889 loop was groomed this morning. If you’re staying Bay Mills Resort & Casino, you should still have decent riding heading west out of there.

We’ll keep updating!
Thanks for the pics, Turbo!

Any local snow reports are welcome so that we have a better picture of what surrounding areas look like.

It’s not pretty folks. Big thanks to Turbo for sending these pics of the trail crossings on 8 from the Soo to Brimley. All rain here today. South of the soo, trailso are showing dirt in Kinross😔 Snow is supposedly moving in, and it’s going to get cold so the trails will be solid ice.
We’ll keep you posted! Just west in areas such as Paradise, they were getting snow. More west was getting significant snow, so it’s out there if you want to chase it!
Hope to have better news tomorrow for our area. 🤞❄️🥶 #soo #snowphotos

So far, all rain here in the Soo😭
It’s supposed to switch over to snow tonight. Obviously, grooming is on pause, and trails will be very icy once temps drop and this all freezes. No doubt the trails all took a hit, but we’ll update when we can on how things shake out.
The snow line isn’t too far to our west, so areas over that way should be in much better shape.
We’ll keep you posted! #soo
