SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 03/08

3/8/25
Good morning all!
Wanted to share these pics from Nathan and Dennis after they split the run down 49 from the Soo to Kinross.

As I’ve been saying, it’s very thin as you go south of about 9 mile. It’s also VERY wet, and now probably very icy as it is 8 degrees.

They smoothed out what they could so that it could freeze smooth instead of rutted up, but it’s pretty rough.

Again, the Soo and west to Brimley, Raco and beyond faired much better.

We wanted to be sure to show you the worst of the worst so that you know what you’re in for south of the Soo.

Thank you Dennis and Nathan!

SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 3/7/25
Hey everyone! Here are a lot of pics from Diane and Turbo on their run from Kinross west on 472 to 480 and through the Spile Dam yestersay, 3/6. We wanted to make sure that you have a clear picture of what this trail looks like after the rain the other day. As you can see, there is water along the sides of the trail and on the trail in places. They did what they could with it, but it’s late season conditions until we get more snow.
North of there in the Raco and Brimley areas faired much better.
Thank you Turbo and Diane! #soo #snowphotos

SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 3/7/25
Good morning!
We have light snow falling in the Soo. We’ll take all that we can get to cover up the icy base from the rain event the other day. We’ve had groomers out everywhere except trail 49 from the Soo to Kinross, 49 south of M80, and 494 also in kinross. The snow is just too thin down that way, and we’ll do more harm than good until we get more snow. It’s also pretty icy after all of the rain.
Also a heads up- there was a timber sale and there will be logging on 49 near Wilson Rd south of M80 in Kinross. They usually leave a base for snowmobilers, but please use caution. This trail has not been groomed due to low snow/icy conditions as it is.
Thanks all! Rider pics and reports are always welcome!
We’ll keep updating!

SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 3/6/25
Hey guys!
Turbo and Diane hit 472 out of Kinross west to the Spile Dam on 480.
They will have pics for us too, but wanted to share the video for now. They saw some pretty saturated areas, especially between Johnson Rd and Centerline Rd on 472. Please use extra caution as there is water over the trail here. They stayed out of there to prevent making it worse.
This trail was very rough due to not being groomed for a few days while we had the warm up and rain. They did the best that they could with it, and we’ll share pics when they get back and settled. It’s going to be far from perfect, but definitely much improved!
Thank you Turbo and Diane for your time! #soo #snowphotos
