SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 03/10
Good morning all!
We hope you got to get out and enjoy the trails this past weekend ahead of the warm up. They sure were awesome yesterday! As you could probably guess, grooming is on pause for now. There will be wet areas as things continue to thaw. It’s just that time of the year.
We will be out when and if it makes sense to do so. Tons of snow still on the forest service roads and a very solid base on trails north of M28.
WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> Expect a return to normal early March temperatures today, with some breezy conditions being seen in the Keweenaw and along Lake Superior early this morning too. Temperatures climb once again though as we head towards the end of the week. #miweather #keweenaw#westernup#marquette#munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsareaExpect a return to normal early March temperatures today, with some breezy conditions being seen in the Keweenaw and along Lake Superior early this morning too. SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 3/11/2025 Good morning all! We saw the warm temps and sun all day yesterday, so we lost quite a bit of snow. Today, it’s very windy which can also be a snow killer. Grooming is still on pause due to warmth. We had riders check in yesterday that said the trails from the Soo and to Brimley, Raco and Bay Mills are still pretty dang good! Getting through towns and parking lots is bare though. Still lots of base on 8, 889, and the northern part of 480. There is a lot of water on 49 south past the Soo. That trail may be done for the season, unfortunately. Already heard sleds go by my place off of 8 this morning. Sounds like north of M28 is your best bet if you’re getting those spring rides in! We’ll keep you updated! #soo ... See MoreSee Less

SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 3/8/25 Good morning all! Wanted to share these pics from Nathan and Dennis after they split the run down 49 from the Soo to Kinross. As I’ve been saying, it’s very thin as you go south of about 9 mile. It’s also VERY wet, and now probably very icy as it is 8 degrees. They smoothed out what they could so that it could freeze smooth instead of rutted up, but it’s pretty rough. Again, the Soo and west to Brimley, Raco and beyond faired much better. We wanted to be sure to show you the worst of the worst so that you know what you’re in for south of the Soo. Thank you Dennis and Nathan! #soo #snowphotos... See MoreSee Less
