SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 03/23
3/23/25
Good morning all!
Brimley Bill groomed 8 from Brimley to Raco, the Raco poweline, and part of 480. He said that there were a lot of hanging and downed branches, most of which he cleared, but said that riders still need to be cautious. Spring conditions means that things are ever changing.
Snow incoming tonight into Tuesday morning.
We’ll keep you posted on how much we end up with.
Be safe guys!

Good evening! We’re not done just yet, though not all of our trails faired as well as the Raco and Bay Mills area. Today was cold enough for Turbo and Diane to hit the Mission Hill loop (part of 8 and 889). They saw around 60 sleds in 4 hours.
Diane said that the trails are excellent! The video in the comments is a family of 6, including their kids from Charlevoix. Great day for it. We love to see families enjoying our efforts!
They handed the groomer off to Brimley Bill who did the Brimley run on 8 amd part of 480.
As we’ve been saying, anything south of the Soo on 49 is very wet, and I’ve heard that there are several branches hanging after the heavy snow. If you ride that way, expect spring conditions and ride at your own risk. Please be safe!
A little refresher snow is on the way again! We are holding on here! ❄❄❄

SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 3/29/25 Holy cow! I am blown away by how good the city trails are! They haven’t been groomed in 2 weeks and you’d never know it! The little streams near Kewadin Casino are flowing again but our snow bridges are holding! The sun is VERY warm and there will be significant melting today, but man, what a great local ride! Hope you get to enjoy it too! #soo #snowphotos... See MoreSee Less

SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 3/29/25 Good morning! Well, we for sure got some freezing rain and ice, but the snow won over last night. It’s heavy wet stuff, maybe 2”, but covered up the ice that we got at least! No power outages in the Soo that I’m aware of, and I have not heard of downed trees, though I am sure there are some. There will be more precipitation on the way. Whether it’s ice or snow remains to be seen. Right now, it’s not doing anything. Surrounding areas, please check in. This photo is from this morning. Another beautiful “spring” day!!😉❄️ #soo #snowphotos3/29/25

SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 3/28/25 The decision has been made to bring the Pisten Bully back to the Soo for the season. If we get the ice that is predicted, downed trees will make it impossible to get it back here. While we still have hope that it will be more snow than ice, we have to be smart about our decisions and our equipment. The good news is, the trails in the Brimley, Raco, Bay Mills, and to the Soo are flat as can be. Thank you Turbo, Diane, and all volunteers! We’ll keep updating throughout the storm. Surrounding areas, please check in with what you’re seeing as I’m sure it’s different depending on where you are. Thank you! #soo #snowphotos... See MoreSee Less
