Keweenaw Peninsula Trail Report – 02/11
Winter Carnival – Thursday, February 10 at 9:00am – February 13 at 12:00pm – http://ow.ly/3UPB4 Supposed to warm up for the weekend. After taking in the Snow Statues you can enjoy the Bigfoot Snowshoe event, fish the Chassell Ice Fishing Derby and snowshoe the Keweenaw Shore Nature Sanctuary on Saturday and take the kids to the Barnelopet on Sunday. That’s besides the skiing, sledding, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling that are always available. Complete details at the keweenaw.info Calendar. The snowmobile trails from TwinLakes to CopperHarbor are open, and groomers are out working on them. Trails are reported to be in good to very good condition except for the High Rock trail which is in fair condition due to low snow. Remember to watch out for the groomers when you’re out on the trails…….they have the right of way!! The Keweenaw Convention & Visitors Bureau asks that you stay on the trails, STAY OFF THE ICE, respect private property, do not drink and drive, and above all else, please, drive safely. The signs on the snowmobile trails are there for the riders’ safety. Please, DO NOT remove or destroy these signs.
There is logging on a short portion of Trail 133 between Gay and Lac La Belle.
