Grayling Trail Report – Fay’s Motel – 01/03
Greetings Sledders, Sorry for the one day delay but I wanted this last deal to exhaust itself out before reporting totals and there were just too damn many important football games on to file a report yesterday. Unfortunately we only ended up with about 5 to 6′ of LES which doesn’t do much for us in terms of panning in the start of a base so the Big Deeres sat idle and I don’t see them moving until we get a fair amount of new stuff on the ground. I did move Deere 1 to Charlie’s to fuel up on Sunday and you would have thought the world as we know it was ending. Phone calls to our club President and to my Big Fat Buddha Buddy Pete. Why’s that guy grooming? etc. Only the language wasn’t quite that nice. I took a ride on my Le Classique today to get a first hand assessment and I found a mixed bag of conditions ranging from poor to actually pretty good considering. I rode part of the way to Fredericanville and found some thin spots on corners and some decent trail segments but the problem is hitting rocks due to no base. The Lovells trail was generally a good ride as a result of allot less traffic. All in all it was just okay for early season riding. The real concern is this coming weekend, as there isn’t any weather that we like to see in the forecast. Any amount of traffic will eat up anything that’s out there in no time. It doesn’t matter if you got 6′ or 12′ without replenishing snows it won’t stand up to a ton of traffic because of the type of snow we received. Wish we had better overall news but it’s not looking so pretty good for awhile yet. Could be about time to break into the Spam stash. Ride Often and Please Be Safe, At Fay’s Motel enjoy direct access to the Grayling Area snowmobile trails.
