St. Ignace Trail Report – Straits Area Snowmobile Club – 12/20
The big storm is on its way. Awoke today to…. nothing. No rain, no snow, nothing – even when the local weather said it was snowing here – no precip at all. Schools South of us have closed in anticipation. The rain has started as of 9am, killing what we had left of snow and frost. The snow is on the way though. I monitored predictions yesterday morning, with most calling for around 8′ here. Last night they downgraded the straits area to 2-4′, with much higher North of Trout Lake, and down by Grayling. This morning, we are literally 6 hours out, and they bumped us all the way up to 12′, but with 35d temps most of the day?!? My official predication is 10′ in Trout Lake, 8′ in Cut River, and 5′ here in the straits. The good news is we are looking at below freezing temps for the next 4+ days, with the possibility of reinforcing snow next Monday. Winter, may finally have arrived! More updates later today..
