Ok here we go! Yesterday’s snow came down lightly all day, but the flakes were so dense the roads quickly became greasy. Many schools closed early and by day’s end we had about 4′ snow. The temps started out around 33 and dropped to 30 by dark. The wind started picking up and so did the snowfall. Overnight we got at least 6 more inches of snow and many areas are without power. The heaviest snow has settled so if you measure it will look like 7-8′ on the ground.

If it were dry and fluffy snow we would’ve measured about 16 inches but since it was dense it has compacted. This is THE perfect snow for snowmobiling! The wind is picking up and it’s down to 25 degrees (feels colder with windchill). Snow is covering everything out there and snow banks are piling up again. It’s a thing of beauty.

All area schools are closed today because conditions are especially bad on back roads. All this translates to an excellent snowmobiling atmosphere and our tractors are scheduled to pack the trails today. I just got a report that there are some trees and limbs down across the railroad grade and in the woods too. So RIDE WITH CAUTION if you’re heading out on our trails today. Snow will continue falling today and isolated lake effect is predicted for Saturday and Sunday. Wind and snowfall will decrease visibility today. We are still under a Winter Storm Warning until 7 pm tonight. Looks like our snow will be staying as temps are only expected to hit the high 20’s to 30 for the next week. So hook the trailer up and make time for a ride during this Christmas week ahead. Be safe no matter what mode of transportation you choose.
