Cadillac Area Trail Report – 01/03
Thursday, January 3, 2013 We picked up about an inch of snow over the last 24 hours. Still not enough to start grooming but it will help overall…every little bit will help. Tuesday, January 1, 2013 Just received a report from our Trail Coordinator who reports the White Pine Trail is hard packed snow (3+ inches) along both edges but the middle of the trail is worn down to ice or pavement in a few spots. The trail is not rough as there is not enough snow to make moguls. Keep in mind, it may be questionable at this point whether snowmobiles should be on the White Pine Trail at all as there simply isn’t enough snow. From the White Pine Trail west to the forest roads, the trail is smooth but mostly snirt. The wide open forest roads continue to be in very good condition. As of today, grooming has been suspended until we get more snow. We’re all wearing ourselves out with the snow dances but they don’t seem to be working. Snow Accumulation: 5-6′ Cadillac area–8/10′ Boon north REMEMBER there are fewer signs in the woods this winter so when you finally do get a chance to ride, take your time and enjoy the ride. The need for speed may be costly to you and to others. Assume every trail is a winding trail and be ready for the next curve. A reminder to those who enjoy riding the White Pine Trail, State Park officials have asked snowmobilers to ‘refrain from operating snowmobiles when less than four inches of snow cover the trail.’ * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * VIA CADILLAC WINTER PROMOTIONS
