Gaylord Area Trail Report – Ray’s Retreat Country Inn – 01/07
38 degrees. Sunshine. Its looking like warming temps will continue thru the week. We did get out and enjoy some riding this afternoon. We rode 25 miles. Trail 7, 4, and some roads. It was a combination of conditions. Some great areas with plenty of snow and smooth riding. Some areas down to the dirt but still snow to skirt around. Some icy areas. After a day of working inside it just felt good to climb on the sleds and move along the trails in Gods beautiful outdoors. I know snowmobiling isn’t as eco friendly as snow shoeing but it is still so great to be able to enjoy the woods, ponds and streams. Its a beautiful country we enjoy. We stopped a few times just to enjoy deep breathing the fresh outdoor air. Listening to the wind and trees. Mike enjoyed an unexpected visit this morning from two gentlemen from Chicago. They were staying just down the road at Marsh Ridge, and was out hunting down some breakfast when they stopped in. We may not be the first class resort some require, but there are few that can outmatch Rays Retreat hospitality. They found their breakfast and enjoyed a tour of what we offer. We look forward to having them stay with us on their next visit to north country. I’ve sent Mother Nature a request for her to join me for a professional conference so we can review her job description as far as winter is concerned. The past few years I believe she’s forgotten that winter is supposed to be cold and snowy from December thru March. Hopefully after a talk we can get this resolved and enjoyed the rest of the winter.
