Western U.P. Trail Report – Western U.P. Bureau – 01/10
It looks like we have a few more days of unseasonable warmer weather with temps returning to the teens on Sunday. We have snow in the forecast for Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday with colder temps. The Lake Gogebic groomers reports all trails are rolled. Groomers have not been out for the last few days we need more snow. Expect icy corners and bare spots. Remember it is early season riding conditions. You will find more snow in the wooded areas. More snow is needed to get the trails in great shape. Groomers are ready and waiting to go out. The Watersmeet groomers have not gone out yet they need more snow. They are biting at the bit to go out. All areas need more snow….keep in mind groomers can be out day or night so watch out for them and please pull over or slow down and wait for the operator to signal you by. Please be careful on corners as you know several Michigan Trail signs have been discontinued. These signs are posted on our trail map. PLEASE BE SAFE!!!! The Gogebic Range Trail Authority reports: Trail 2,8,and 160 all have been groomed in the last couple of days. Watch for icy spots and bare spots. Trail 2 from Ramsay to Marenisco expect bare spots. Trail 8 has bare spots with icy corners. Trail 160 closer to the lake the snow is marginal. Trails 11s and 11n are not groomed we need more snow before groomers will go out to groom these trails. It is still early season riding we need more snow to get the trails in great shape. Be Patient!!!
