Grand Marais Trail Report – 01/19

Got snow? We do with a lot more on the way! If you’re not here yet, you’d better get on the move. They are calling for another 6 to 12 inches with near blizzard conditions by the time this all winds down Sunday. The snow analysis map shows us between 10 and 20 inches of snow on the ground, pack that on the trail and we’ve probably got about a 4 to 6 inch base on average. Be alert to possible ice under the snow, especially on Trail 89. I am hazarding to say the trails are AWESOME!! That’s not an official rating, I know. So here’s what some of the riders had to say about yesterday’s rides:

Bill Chatfield – Here now and can attest to the snow. Found a foot of new south just to the south and 5′ of new snow on the car from the time we went riding till we got back. Saturdays powder should be crazy.

Amy Gable-Smith – We are here and loving it! Thank you groomers! Great riding today.

Mike & Chris Lawless (?) – Deep fresh powder, lots more to come. A perfect day to ride in Grand Marais.

Boogity, Boogity, Boogity! Drift busting, boondocking, and tons of snow to play hard!
