Michigan Trail Report

St. Ignace Trail Report – 01/21

We are back in business.

I probably could have called it earlier in the weekend, but I really wanted to see what would happen on Saturday night. It got pretty warm Saturday, hovering around 30, and on Saturday night run, Bob did run into a decent amount of rain on the Burma grade. No worries though, everything has been groomed down and no major problems reported anywhere. There RR Grade is back in Biz, and yes has some thin spots here and there, and few rocks poking through, but it is better then it has been all season. It should hold up to moderate traffic for now. It sure is nice to have both groomers running again.

Snow totals really added up over the end of last week and the weekend. We got 5-6 in Iggy, 8-10 in Moran and Cut River, and 10-12 in Trout Lake – Rexton. Alot of that was lake effect, and it packed down to less then 6′, but the trail base should be there and hold well.

It is going to be really cold this week, with a little snow here and there all week. The big bay is frozen over and people are bracing for the single digit temps. I am expecting Cedarville will freeze over this week, and run next weekend. Our groomers will run every other day to pack down any new snow we get, and trail will be all set for next weekend. It has been way too long, so I will have pics for you on Thursday.

Gaylord/Manci and Newberry are going to get hammered with lake effect over the next few days. That will bring huge traffic numbers – head over here for more quite trails, and full access to all of the EUP!

Keep the tracks down, and the skis forward.
