Western U.P. Trail Report – Western U.P. Bureau – 03/15
Our winter is hanging on, we are suppose to get a couple more inches of new snow today and tonight on top of the 2 feet of snow we had gotten across Gogebic County. Our temps are still in the 20’s until next Wednesday and lows in the teens and single digits. Our trail report is more of the same. Snowmobiling is the best it has been all season. With our low traffic and great condition now is the time to come and have a great time riding. The Gogebic Range Trail Authority: With daily and nightly grooming ongoing, conditions will continue to be good. There is a trouble spot on 160. A groomer broke through a creek so use caution signs are posted. The Lake Gogebic groomers report: Snowmobilers in the area are reporting the trails in very good condition with low traffic. There have been reports of snowmobiles running on the railroad tracks through Bergland. Watch for trail signs and stay on snowmobile trail. The two run right next to each other and it is an easy mistake to make-but you will be ticketed if caught riding on the railroad tracks. The Watersmeet groomers report: Conditions are good to excellent. The bare spots are covered and grooming is ongoing. Keep in mind groomers can be out day or night so watch out for them and please pull over or slow down and wait for the operator to signal you by. Please be careful on corners as you know several Michigan Trail signs have been discontinued. These signs are posted on our trail map. PLEASE BE SAFE!!!!
