St. Ignace Trail Report – 03/25
Most trucks at the ice rink all year on Saturday, with 35+ in the South lot, and another 22 on the North end – great to see! Trails got worked pretty hard over the weekend, and are still in good to excellent condition, with no major issues out there. A couple of small thin spots on the grade out of Iggy, and some gravel along the side of Brevort Lake road, S you jog over are about it. Cedarville connector may not last through next weekend where the loggers are plowing it, we will see if the ice holds up. The Mackinac Bridge trail to US-2 is in tough shape due to the side of the plowed streets for around a mile. Where I groomed, things look good, the gravel shoulders are really tough. Downtown St. Ignace is in good shape, with a 100yd section of pavement behind city hall, otherwise lots of snow on the trail. Otherwise once you are on the trail, then things are looking good for the coming week. Moderate temps will have slight melting, with most of the damage coming from the sun. Freezing temps at night will hold onto most of what we have for now. Easter riding is a certainty at this point, and I will be putting in for extended grooming. I am going to reduce the grooming somewhat, and run about 3 days a week until the end of the season, which should keep things flat, and retain the most of the snow that we have. This week is going to be great riding, next weekend some sort of storm, so get some miles down while you can. Base: 14 inches Snowfall Past 24 hours: 0 inches Last Grooming: Every other day now Current Trail Conditions: Good to Excellent
