St. Ignace Trail Report – 12/18

Things are pretty decent. Our whole system is panned down and ready for action. We have between 12′-24′ of snow everywhere, but it is the lightest stuff, that is lasting that I can remember. All that snow is panning down to 3-4′ on the trail, and it is still a little loose. We need more snow with some moisture in it to get things going really good.

Forecast has some snow in it, and a very slight warm-up so it should settle things down a little and firm them up when it refreezes. It should make a decent base, but will need a bit more work.

Trail hazards: Found flowing water on the RR Grade about 5 miles South of Trout Lake. That is a new one to me, haven’t seen that before.

Logging: They are plowing a part of the Red Creek Road, on the Cedarville connector. Still passable and they are working with us.

If you know where the trail stop is, at the intersection of 2 and 473, all of the roads are plowed within a 4 mile radius of that point, N-S-E-W all the way to the Caffey, including all the way down to Brevort. There is a huge timber sale going on in there this winter – I am still getting more details on that.
