Cadillac Area Trail Report – 01/19
January 19, 2014 We picked up another 3 inches of snow today. The wind has been blowing it around so it looks like we got a lot more than that. Al Green, our Trail Coordinator, was grooming the White Pine Trail this morning and said there were times when he could barely see where he was going. He said the trail groomed up nicely going south but when he turned around and headed back north he found places where the snow had made drifts over the trail again. He commented he didn’t see much ice on the White Pine Trail. Between 9:30 a.m and 10:30 a.m. he saw 41 sleds. January 18, 2014 Got a note from the groomer who groomed McGuires to Pine River last night and he said the trails remain Good to Excellent. He found 2-3 inches of snow and an ice base. During my ride today, I found out exactly what the groomers are talking when they mention the ice base. Gosh, there is ice everywhere so be ready for it. There was enough sled traffic today the snow had been blown off the trail in the corners and the straight-away in places. Had some great riding today on mostly groomed trails. —– To better access the forest trails, you’ll want to use one of the Staging Areas below: 33 Rd Staging Area–S of M-55–approx.. 3 miles west of Cadillac on M-55 (watch for signs) Caberfae Staging Area–approx.. 12 miles west of Cadillac on M-55 (watch for signs) Boon Staging Area–park in plowed area south of Boon Grocery Note: The porta-a-johns were removed from our staging areas today as our contracts on them expired 3-15-13. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * VIA CADILLAC WINTER PROMOTIONS
