Newberry Trail Report – Halfway Lake Resort – 02/15
We are having a "warm up" with temps in the upper teens-low 20’s during the day. Mid-week temps are predicted to reach upper 20’s and low 30’s during the day but fall well below freezing at night. With over 3 feet of snow on the ground we anticipate the warm up will harden the base and not hurt the trails. Of course new snow always freshens things up. This report will be updated AFTER the temps return to below freezing. From 2/15: With 3-5 feet of snow on the ground riders continue to say this is the best they can imagine the trails being. People are riding from here to the far eastern end, down to Trout Lake, over to Christmas and even Kitch-iti-kipi, commenting on how this is not always possible. Area wide the groomers are receiving many compliments on how how they are keeping the trails. Thank you and keep up the good work! Why head north and cross the bridge to ride? You will find 3-4 feet of snow on the ground. You can go miles and miles and miles without seeing a stop sign and frequently without seeing another sled. Newberry is 1 hour north of the bridge. Ride right from your door in a different direction each day! We are located 12 mi NW of Newberry (Halfway to Lk Superior) and 7 miles south of Pine Stump Junction. Between Grand Marais and Paradise. Tahquamenon Area Snowmobile Association grooms over 125 miles of trails that interconnect to hundreds of miles of trails groomed by local associations. Like us on Facebook at:
