Lake Gogebic Trail Report – 02/21
February 21st, 2014 – Here’s the scoop…the Lake Gogebic area remains under a winter storm warning extending through this afternoon until 7:00 eastern time/6:00 central time. We’ve already received approximately a foot overnight with another few inches since this morning and an additional 5 to 8-inches expected through today. We are also experiencing strong winds up to 40 mph, causing drifting and poor visibility. We’ve definitely had any snow we lost earlier this week replaced x2! It’ll be great fun to ride in all this fresh snow as long as you use caution. Don’t let your speed outrun your visibility and use extra caution crossing roadways. No problems to report on the Gogebic Area Trail system at this time. Temperatures are expected in the 20’s over the next couple of days and then back down into the single digit and below zero highs once again. March is looking more and more like a great time to come back up for the last ride (or two, or three) of the season. With all the snow and cold expected we shouldn’t have any trouble keeping our trails in great riding condition for you well into March. Be sure to pick up a copy of the newest edition of the Gogebic Times, put out by the Lake Gogebic Area Chamber of Commerce, which can be found at most local businesses. Not only will you find a snowmobile map and a lake map but there are some really great articles about snowmobile riding in our beautiful area. Not to mention some really great articles about the Lake Gogebic area and lots of great information for year round fun. Take one or two home with you, there free of cost to you. That’s all for now from Carolyn at the Hoop. I will keep you posted as often as conditions change.
