Western U.P. Trail Report – Western U.P. Bureau – 03/03
It will be warming up a little this week. Highs will be in the 20’s and lows in the single digits with a slight chance of snow showers. With all of our new snow and cold temps, our trails have a great base. Overall all trails are in great shape. The Gogebic Range Trail Authority – All trails are in very good condition. Trails 2 & 8 are groomed and Trails 160 and llN are being groomed today. We have gotten word from the DNR that trail 11S will be closed due to logging this winter. The Lake Gogebic groomer’s report: Grooming is ongoing. No problems to report on the Gogebic Area Trail system except some snowmobilers are riding on the railroad tracks through Merriweather and Bergland. The snowmobile trail runs parallel to the tracks and some are mistaking the trail. WATCH for the snowmobile trail signs as you WILL be ticketed for riding on the tracks. Trails are in great shape so get in some excellent riding on these beautiful trails. The Watersmeet groomer’s report: Grooming is ongoing. Trails are in excellent condition. Come out and getting some great riding in. Please remember groomers are out both day and night, so watch for them, Please pull over or at least slow down and wait for the operator to signal you by whenever you see them. JUST ONE MORE REMINDER: PLEASE STAY ON MARKED TRAILS. RIDING ON UNMARKED TRAILS CAN RESULT IN THE CLUBS LOSING EASEMENT FOR THAT TRAIL AND IT CAN ALSO RESULT IN A POSSIBLE TICKET FOR YOU.
