WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM TUESDAY MORNING THROUGH WEDNESDAY EVENING… THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MARQUETTE HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WATCH… WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM TUESDAY MORNING THROUGH WEDNESDAY EVENING. HAZARDOUS WEATHER… We have a winter storm watch – A PERIOD OF WET AND HEAVY SNOW IS POSSIBLE TUESDAY. THE EXACT LOCATION OF THE BAND OF SNOW IS STILL UNCERTAIN… BUT SEVERAL INCHES OF SNOW COULD OCCUR. * ADDITIONAL WET AND HEAVY SNOW IS EXPECTED ACROSS MUCH OF THE WEST HALF OF UPPER MICHIGAN TUESDAY NIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY. * TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OVER 8 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE TUESDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY OVER WESTERN UPPER MICHIGAN Our temps for the next several days will be in the 30’s with low in the teens. We will have to wait and see what this storm system brings us. Because of low traffic, the trails are awesome. Now is the time to enjoy some great riding. The Gogebic Range Trail Authority: The Lake Gogebic groomer’s report: The Watersmeet groomer’s report: *CAUTION WATER ON TRAIL# 3* Trail 3 south of Watersmeet, south of US45 heading to Land O Lakes has an area where a creek has dammed up flooding water and ice onto the trail. PLEASE USE CAUTION – Caution tape is up but other areas could form! We are working on the issue, equipment and people could be on the trail also! All other trails are in good to excellent condition! Come Ride! JUST ONE MORE REMINDER: PLEASE STAY ON MARKED TRAILS. RIDING ON UNMARKED TRAILS CAN RESULT IN THE CLUBS LOSING EASEMENT FOR THAT TRAIL AND IT CAN ALSO RESULT IN A POSSIBLE TICKET FOR YOU. Groomers is ongoing. Trails are holding up with our good base and lots of snow. Groomers are reporting all trails are in good to very good condition. Please use caution on corners they can be icy. The DNR reports that trail 11S will be closed due to logging this winter.
Even with temps in the 50’s the other day we still have plenty of snow for great riding conditions. Groomers are out during the night hours and with temps dipping below zero last night the trails are in really great condition. Riders in the area are raving about the trails! You may find some bare spots where trails cross roadways, as is normal for this time of the year. It looks like we’ll be down into the 20’s for highs and around zero for lows for this upcoming weekend with a good chance of snow, so the riding should continue to be good at least through another weekend. Even with the expected highs in the 30’s next week the groomer drivers will still be able to groom at night with expected lows in the teens. Like I said, we’ve got lots of snow…still. In prior years, with this much snow at this time of the year, we’ve seen snow on the ground (in the shade) into June! No kidding! Hope to see you up soon for another great ride. We’re proud to add that trail reports coming back from DNR trail inspections on our trails are all coming back with “impeccably groomed”. Keep in mind that the deer are moving around more and more on the snowmobile trails due to the extremely deep snow, so keep an eye open for them. We’ve had several reports from snowmobilers in the area about this. Never run behind them as they don’t have the lungs for long, fast running. Come to a stop and enjoy watching them for a bit. If they don’t immediately move off just try slowly approaching them, that’ll usually do the trick. Another reminder to please stay off the railroad tracks. This can be dangerous, it is against the law and you will be fined for riding on the tracks. The snowmobile trails are in way too good of condition to have any excuse not to stay on them.
We are Grooming Nightly as long as the temps allow us to get out and groom.
Trails are in good shape a few icy corners with a little dirt in some spots, roads and gas stations are down to pavement. Still plenty of snow to ride on
Please remember groomers are out both day and night, so watch for them, Please pull over or at least slow down and wait for the operator to signal you by whenever you see them.
