Western U.P. Trail Report – Western U.P. Bureau – 01/12

We will have cold temps again today with sunshine and a high of 12 tomorrow. After that our temps will be warming up some. The trails are improving with all the cold weather we have had so things are looking up.

We have been getting complaints that snowmobilers are not staying on the trails. Please stay on trails, we can lose easement from property owners if this isn’t followed through. Tickets are being issued to people who do not stay on trails. PLEASE STAY ON TRAILS.

The Gogebic Range Trail Authority Report:
The only official report I have gotten from the GRTA is that Trail 8 is groomed today and is in good condition. Trail 11S is closed this season due to logging. There was nothing else called in to the trail boss so he told me the other trails are fair to good. Hope to have a better report tomorrow for you.

We have had reports of signs being removed from the trails. Please if you see anyone removing the signs please report them. The signs are there for the safety of the riders!!!

Lake Gogebic Groomer’s Report:
January 9th, 2015 – We received about a foot of new snow from Thursday evening to Friday am! Lots of new white stuff to play in for everyone!! And the other bit of good news is trail 102 has now been groomed completely through and we’re very happy to report no more wet spots due in large part to the hard work of our groomer drivers, mechanics and volunteers, but also due to the extreme cold we’ve been shivering through all week. In fact, word is that there are no more wet spots on any of our trails…just in time for a busy weekend. All trails are being groomed on a rotating basis. With more cold weather expected maybe we won’t have any more of the problems we battled in December.

The Watersmeet Groomer’s report:
Groomers are running daily and the trails are in very good condition. Not much more to say than that! Ride right, ride safe!!

Please follow the orange barrels and stay on trail going across Cisco Chain.

Please remember groomers are out both day and night, so watch for them, please pull over or at least slow down and wait for the operator to signal you by whenever you see them. Groomers have the right of way.

JUST ONE MORE REMINDER: PLEASE STAY ON MARKED TRAILS. RIDING ON UNMARKED TRAILS CAN RESULT IN THE CLUBS LOSING EASEMENT FOR THAT TRAIL AND IT CAN ALSO RESULT IN A POSSIBLE TICKET FOR YOU.
