Benzie Area Trail Report – 01/20
RIDE-ABLE Not the best conditions. There is not a significant amount of snow for grooming operations. Our head groomer Jeff has let me know that. NO, trails were groomed today all 3 tractors are parked till we receive fresh snow or Tuesday night with cold temps. Groomers we’re out on Thursday night, very early Friday morning. Please show some respect for the guys grooming during the late hours. We are colder temps and peck-a-boo sun to cloudy with very few flurries of Lake effect snow last night 1 inch. As we were working on smoothing ruts and were starting to set a thin base. Our total now is 7 to 10 inches of snow on the ground but not on our trail. The condition of base is fair to poor in many places, as last weekend traffic did take a total on the trail in some spots dirt and is icy mud on some curves, be careful. It was very busy for 2nd ride of season, seen many sleds go by last weekend enjoying our winter wonderland. If you do ride this weekend please be slow and easy on what is left of our base with near 35 degree temps possible by Friday. If big crowds at Tip up town is not your thing then come enjoy our peaceful wooded trails this weekend. With that said what are you waiting for… Just load it up, come on up to get out and enjoy your ride. Look below the map for our next 5 day forecast! Not quite ready for our favorite saying, “Well groomed and ready to ride” need some **wet packing snow** warmer temps are helping our packing but not on trails. You can help by getting your dancing boots to start stumping a snow dance. Thanks for riding our trails. We do maintain it for all you winter sports enthuse to enjoy now get out and ride. Trails took a beating with the warm weekend and traffic. It’s looking rough and dirty out there. If you can stay in the back country and woods, you’ll find better riding. Good news is the colder air has moved back in so if the groomers can get out there they can try to fix what’s left but at this point unfortunately they will probably be parked until we get some more snow. There just isn’t enough to work with. We need more snow so do your dance, pray, or cross your fingers, whatever it takes! Remember the Benzie Manistee Snowbirds Clubhouse has an OPEN HOUSE every Saturday in January & February! Stop in at 14121 Industrial Drive in Kaleva. Fun conversation, free warm-up coffee or hot-coco & a snack provided by the club! OK! So till next time keep up the snow dance and I will SEEYA on the trails baby! http://www.visitbenzie.com/seasonal-snow-reports-24/ <>
