St. Ignace Trail Report – 02/16
Burrrrrrr. Several solid day of negative temps, and Sunday the entire state of Michigan was below Zero air temperature. Brutal cold temps for sure, and at 2pm Sunday I called off the days groomer runs with an air temp of -8d, which was up from a -21d morning. Our machines do not care for that extreme cold, so wit the traffic lightening up and the trails already flat as a board, and setup like concrete, there was no harm in holding the runs for a day or two. The coming forecast is a bit warmer temps, hovering around the teens, with an inch of snow ever couple of days. Todays big snow is going through the Tennessee Valley, Southern states are taking most of our snow this year! That is ok, our trails are in excellent shape, there is plenty to ride on, and off trail is decent too. Somewhat sugary, and it could always be deeper, but should be a good time on the powerlines and forest roads. Groomers are running a normal schedule, with no issues on the trail to note, and I see no reason to see that change. We want to welcome New groomer drivers Tucker and Reggie to the mix. Congrats on your successful solo runs! We will still be training up a couple of new drivers over the next few weeks, so more daytime runs during the week. Youth Pond Hockey out on Moran Bay this coming weekend, so if you are headed this direction, makes your reservations ASAP, hotels with pools fill up quickly. ———
