The GRTA is back down to one groomer again and have not groomed in the past couple of days because of the cold. They are going out now to do trail 2 to Marenisco and hope to get trail 8 done also. The trail boss told me trails are in fair condition and they are trying to do the best they can with what they have to work with. Please be patient. It has been a tough go for them this year. Watch for the detour around a large water hole on trail 11N signs are posted. There is still logging on 160 so watch for logging trucks. Logging trucks do have the right of way. Trail 11S is closed due to logging this winter.
We continue to groom daily. The drivers report all the trails are very good. Some are just coming in and others are leaving to groom so watch for the groomers at all times. We have had blowing snow and very cold temps. You will find heavier snow to the north of the lake. Hard to tell how much snow we actually had overnight due to the windy conditions. Traffic is considerably lower this week but expect it to pick up again for the weekend. Please check the weather report and dress appropriately. Logging has moved past our portion of trail on 13 north and we are rerouted around logging on 13 south – please watch for signing. It is imperative that you honor the signage on the reroutes so we don’t lose the permission to use those areas.
VERY IMPORTANT: Watch for the reroute where trails 1, 102 and 8 West meet, north of Merriweather going west for about 5 miles. Watch for changes and signs. YOU CANNOT USE THIS AREA FOR ANY RIDING. This reroute will continue to the end of the season. You may also want to top off your gas if headed north through this area as the reroute will add an extra ten miles (there and back) to your trip with no gas stops between Lake Gogebic and Konteka.
Our groomers are running daily and trails are all groomed. All trails are in good condition.
Please follow the orange barrels and stay on trail going across Cisco Chain.
