Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 12/27
It’s 24 and cloudy this morning. Hard and Rutty is how we ended up after yesterdays 46 degree temps and high winds of up to 50 mph late yesterday afternoon. Many people still without power. The mackinac bridge was closed yesterday for a while due to ice falling from the towers. I have seen one sled out this morning and saw maybe a dozen yesterday but none of them rode into the shop here. Everybody that stopped in here yesterday were in cars and from talking to people most all of them have cabins in the area and had been planning to come up to ride and are making the best of it for now. I talked to Chris last night who is the only person I know with a Sledheads tattoo and he said they found some good snow out in the woods and had a good ride yesterday. The trails I looked at this morning are pretty snirty and 2 of the pics below are the parking lot and trail just west of grayling on 72 and the other is the parking lot at the Ramada in grayling this morning where if you look close in the grass you can see ski and track marks. There were actually 7 trailers there this morning too at the Ramada this morning and one next door at the days inn. Had a call from some guys up near Gaylord that came up from south of Indy and they were wondering which way to go and that’s a tough question to answer. Weather man is calling for a little lake effect today but we need way more than that…..So still waiting……Thanks for checking in.
