Paradise Area Trail Report – Paradise Area Night Riders – 12/29
December 29, 2016 29 degrees this morning and cloudy, looks like we picked up about an inch of snow last night too. We are under all kinds of watches and warnings for lake effect snow starting at noon today till tomorrow….YEA!!! ‘They’ are calling for a foot plus if it really kicks in! The temps should be around 30 for highs and 20 for lows the next few days too. Could use a little cooler temps to help us out in the swamps but I`ll take the snow……and that leads me on to what when on yesterday….I`ll try to explain it the best I can….. We, meaning Me, groomers Dave M. and Mike, started out from the Silver Creek Tavern where we had 2 groomers parked yesterday morning. We made our way towards the Soo on trail #8. We have about a 3 mile section that goes thru low land we call the federal forest….cause thats what it is….federal forest land. We made it thru ok but there was a couple of pretty wet spots and ALOT of trees down. Took us 3 hrs. to get thru there. We left the gates open but be careful in there. I would recommend if you are Grand Pa and Grand Ma on a 2 up or have junior in tow to NOT go in there for a week or so…..just my opinion. We then made our way back north towards town down the power line. This is about a 5 mile section that ends at the river mouth. It had some wet spots but passable….oh….there`s a bridge out that we have to detour around for this year…..da pesky beavers got us dar….it is posted with stop signs and you`ll see where to go. As above….I wouldn’t recommend going down this trail unless you really know what you’re doing…..give it a week. If we get this foot of snow that will help. Then on to our infamous swamp just south of town…..DON`T DO IT! We barely made it thru with the groomers and it is a total mess. The gates are closed. Groomer Dave M. got some pics and he`s gonna try to post them on our FB page. The Falls trail #8 remains closed cause of the water also. We are going to try and get in there tomorrow I think. Sooooo….the trails that are open are trail #8 to Pine Stump and the Point trails #452 and #453. They are in really good shape. That`s what I got fer ya`s today. LET ER SNOW!!!!
