Lake Gogebic Trail Report – 01/04
Looks like winter has finally set in – we’re expecting lows over the next few days to drop below zero with some highs only hitting the low single digits. Lots more snow coming on top of the 10 to 12 inches we’ve received over the last day.
Our groomer drivers have been working hard to deal with the wet spots that have plagued us. Bales of straw filled in the big wet hold on trail 8 west, it’s now ride able. The snow along with this upcoming frigid spell will really improve the trail conditions.
Our drivers are reporting that 8 west has been groomed and is in good condition, just use caution around wet areas. Trail 1 south still has 2 wet spots that they’re working on; trail 102 is in very good condition but watch for a wet area towards the north end of the trail. Trail 1 north is in good condition along with 13 north and 8 east. Do watch out for some rocks in areas on trail 13 north.
A local snowmobiler reported in on these trails this morning:
Trail 13 – south of Root Cellar to trail 2 – Excellent – pleasantly surprised how much it improved from last Friday – groomed like a highway hardly any dirt showing
Trail 100 – feeder trail from 13 to Lake Gogebic – excellent, however this trail is still not open all the way from 13 south to 1 south due to logging.
All these trails appeared to have been groomed last night or early morning
Trail 102 from south boundary – did not ride it but other snowmobilers told me very good to excellent
