Lake Gogebic Trail Report – 01/12
January 12th, 2017 Trails are all in great shape, all are being groomed every 24 – 36 hours. We’ve received plenty of snow over this last week – upwards of a foot or more over the northern area of our trail system. Some wet holes continue to be a problem, but it’s getting better. The only substantial wet hole is at the northern portion of trail 102 and our driver has assured us that you can ride around it without getting wet. Weather conditions look perfect through this upcoming weekend with temps right where we want them. Unfortunately, next week doesn’t look good – temps predicted in the 30’s! If possible to change your reservations you might want to consider rescheduling for later in the month or into February. Or maybe the forecasters have it all wrong and we won’t see any of those kinds of temps…maybe. Cross your fingers. As previously posted, please stay on the trails in Bergland. You are not allowed to ride the highway through town and may be ticked. You can only access the gas station by following the trail through the park and crossing directly across from the gas station from Antonio’s Restaurant. If riding the roads through Merriweather (down to the Hoop ‘N Holler Tavern or to the lake) please remember to ride at the posted speed limit of 25 mph and stay to the side and as always be aware that this is a residential area and watch for traffic. *HEADS UP: As previously reported there was to be a water rescue training just off the Bergland dock scheduled for this Saturday. This has been rescheduled for Saturday the 21st. Please keep this in mind and steer clear of this event for safety’s sake. . *If you’d like additional information about our area please contact The Lake Gogebic Area Chamber of Commerce at 888.GOGEBIC or www.lakegogebicarea.com. *Gogebic Area Grooming really needs your support at this time more than ever.
