Lake Gogebic Trail Report – Lake Gogebic – 01/23
January 23rd, 2017 Please stay off the trails – for now. Keeping traffic off the trails right now actually could help preserve what we have until it starts cooling off and we get more snow and can get back to normal-ish. This mid January warm up has lasted longer than I’ve ever seen and it’s taken its toll on everything! The weather will continue to NOT be our friend, at least until Wednesday night when temps are supposed to start cooling down to more normal levels with snow in the forecast for what looks to be almost every day for a week or so from then. No big storms predicted, as of yet, just a few inches here and there each day, and we will have to deal with the wet issues all over again (thanks mother nature). This will be a day to day watch for any snowmobiling over this upcoming weekend so I’ll try to keep more reports coming as we get closer to Wednesday. Keep your fingers crossed. As previously posted, please stay on the trails in Bergland. You are not allowed to ride the highway through town and may be ticketed. You can only access the gas station by following the trail through the park and crossing directly across from the gas station from Antonio’s Restaurant. If riding the roads through Merriweather (down to the Hoop ‘N Holler Tavern or to the lake) please remember to ride at the posted speed limit of 25 mph and stay to the side and as always be aware that this is a residential area and watch for traffic. . *If you’d like additional information about our area please contact The Lake Gogebic Area Chamber of Commerce at 888.GOGEBIC or www.lakegogebicarea.com. *Gogebic Area Grooming really needs your support at this time more than ever.
