Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 01/23
It’s still going downhill 37 degrees here and trails and crossings are looking dark. The three pictures below are from this morning including the same view of my parking lot as yesterday……I don’t like it and time will tell what it looks like for this coming weekend. Several things I have been meaning to touch on so this is going to be a long one today. First of all is about a sad story out of Seney. I am pasting the story from the SSA (Seney Snowmobile Association). Please say a prayer for Seney Snowmobile Association and the family of Tyler Barker in Seney MI. He was killed in a accident at the groomer barn in Seney Mi on Thursday. Next up is a request that I got on the 15th and it got buried in my emails about a stolen sled from the Keg in Waters. Good evening Pete. Just wanted to pass along some information in the hopes you can alert your fan base. Sunday 1/15/17 between 730p-830p my snowmobile was stolen from the parking lot of The Keg Bar in Waters. The stolen sled was a 2015 Ski Doo Renegade XRS. Police report was taken. I have posted on multiple local establishments Facebook pages as well.My intention of this request is to help educate and make other riders aware that theft is always a possibility, and if securing your items is not a option then frequently check to ensure nothing malicious has happened. Many thanks! Chris Zimo Today the Darkside adventures guys headed out towards Quebec for their ride around the Gaspe Pennisula. As usual I wish I was with them. You can track and watch their darkside adventures website. That’s about it for today. Thanks for checking in. SSA is morning the loss or one of our own. An unfortunate accident took the life of Tyler Barker yesterday while working on the drag in the sno barn. Tyler was a snowmobile enthusiast that loved grooming. As our groomers got older the need for maintenance grew. He was always there whenever you needed him for whatever job to keep the groomers on the trail. He was a valued member of our team and will be truely missed. Our thoughts and support goes out to his family and friends. We’d like to thank his coworkers, the first responders and the EMT’s who tried so hard to prevent this tragedy.
