Western U.P. Trail Report – Western U.P. Bureau – 02/03
Gogebic Range Trail Authority We’ve seen about 2″ of new snow since Wednesday 2/1. All of our water hazards have frozen back up and our stellar group of VOLUNTEER (unpaid!) groomer operators have brought the trails right back to pre-thaw conditions. Trail 2 from Hurley to Ramsay Crossing: Trail 2 from Ramsay Crossing to Wakefield: Trail 2 from Wakefield to Marenisco: Trail 8 from Bingo’s to Tula Crossing: Trail 160 from Walmart to Montreal River (WI): Trail 11N (South Boundary Rd) / 11S (Winchester, WI): U.P. THUNDER RIDERS OF WATERSMEET REPORT Groomer Report LAKE GOGEBIC AREA GROOMER REPORT Good to Excellent Groomer Report Trails are much improved with the return to colder temps and we’ve been receiving a few inches of new snow just about every day over the last week, with a call for additional snowfall over the weekend. For next week predictions are calling for a big storm to hit us on Tuesday! Yeah!! Groomers are out on all trails with good reports of wet areas frozen back up with only a few minor spots to watch for. Please remember that trail 100 (at the south end of the lake) is closed until logging is finished in this area. Riding the roadways through this area is prohibited. Hopefully with the colder temps they’ll be able to get back in now and remove the logs that have been cut. We’ll keep you posted as soon as there are any changes. As previously posted, please stay on the trails in Bergland. You are not allowed to ride the highway through town and may be ticketed. You can only access the gas station by following the trail through the park and crossing directly across from the gas station from Antonio’s Restaurant. If riding the roads through Merriweather (down to the Hoop ‘N Holler Tavern or to the lake) please remember to ride at the posted speed limit of 25 mph and stay to the side and as always be aware that this is a residential area and watch for traffic. <> Latest Trail Reports – Quick Links <>
