Grand Marais Trail Report – 02/23
Special Weather Statement Areas Affected: Alger; Delta; Luce; Menominee; Southern Schoolcraft …ACCUMULATING SNOW AND A WINTRY MIX FRIDAY INTO SATURDAY… As a storm system moves northeast across the Great Lakes region late Friday afternoon through early Saturday, snow should spread into at least southern Upper Michigan late tonight and then across the rest of Upper Michigan Friday morning. Snow will then mix with or change to freezing drizzle or light freezing rain at times Friday afternoon and Friday night before changing back to all snow early Saturday. Widespread snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches are likely by late Friday afternoon with another 1 to 3 inches Friday night. Any ice accumulations will be light. Additional snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are expected Saturday, with the greatest amounts closer to Lake Superior. North winds gusting to around 30 mph Friday night into Saturday will also cause some blowing snow, especially for exposed areas along Lake Superior. Since the snow will be wet and heavy Friday and Friday night, shoveling and plowing of the snow will be more difficult than normal. The wet snow will also make road conditions especially slippery. <> Visit Grand Marais Sno-Trails Assoc. Website >>>> <> Below are the latest postings from the Grand Marais Sno-Trails Assoc.
