Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 12/08
Still snowing and blowing in the air here in Frederic, we are up to about 8 inches of lake effect snow. I have heard reports of 16 inches up by Mancelona and lakes of the north and people have told me they saw sleds running up the trail north of waters towards Gaylord. I checked all the trail crossing on the way up to Frederic and just outside of Frederic but still only truck tracks on them. I would imagine it wont be to long and I will see a sled but I still do not recommend riding in what we do have. I just sold my first 4 trail permits to Rich & Lisa who have a place up in Lakes of the North and are on their way there. I certainly do not want to get my plow out yet to move any of this snow as I would like to get it packed down to help us get a decent base going. So that’s in a nut shell for today. I see 6 sleds over at the swamp right now and am sure they are there for the breakfast buffet. My gut feeling is its gonna be a slow saturday but conditions are still better than we have seen in years. Had dinner at the Frederic Inn last night and 3 of us had the prime rib and it was great as usual. Left overs for lunch today. Pics below are all from yesterday and last night.
