Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 12/19
It’s way to warm out here in Frederic this morning at 36 degrees but there is a good side to that. The snow that we do have I getting condensed and as long as we don’t lose it all it will make a great base once it hardens up. Snow is predicted for this weekend so its still a crap shoot if we will have good riding for just after Christmas. Only time will tell. I have heard a few sleds out buzzing around town here this morning so there are some die hards out there. Also I cant stress it enough about riding safety. Snowmobile deaths are almost always speed as the cause and second place to help with that is alcohol. The first death happened in the u.p. on sunday. A 34 year old man went out to have fun and didn’t make it back. We got back home yesterday afternoon after an overnight trip to NYC to check out all the Christmas goodies, easily summed up by two words. Sensory Overload, my daughter Haley and I left from Grand Rapids and her sister flew in to meet us there from Denver. For being there for 12 hours we crammed a lot in, Central Park, Times Square, Empire State, Macys, walked the Brooklyn bridge, 911 memorial, up the freedeom tower, Occulous, store fronts on fifth, Rockefeller center and to our room at just before midnight. I have never seen a tree as big as the one in Rockefeller center, I think it was a hundred feet around…….according to our phones we walked about 14 miles and that didn’t count 4 subway rides……Thanks for checking in and PLEASE RIDE SAFELY.
