SAULT STE. MARIE UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association – Temps got up to 35 around noon but started cooling off from there. Then started snowing about dark, 1-3 inches tonight. And temps falling back into the teens. No groomers moved and not likely Wednesday either unless we get a lot more then 3 inches…. <> Sault Ste. This system appears to be more straightforward than the previous one. Strong northerly winds are expected and blowing snow is likely. Widespread 8-12 inches are forecast; higher amounts in excess of 2 feet are forecast across the higher terrain of Marquette and Baraga Counties into Thursday morning. Note: A sharp gradient in snow totals is expected just inland from the Great Lake-especially along the Lake Superior shoreline in Baraga and Marquette Counties. Wet snow combined with strong northerly winds may cause sporadic power outages. The first polar front will sweep through the Midwest on Thanksgiving day bringing temperatures 10 to 15 degrees below average. Lows below zero are expected for some across the north and in the single digits down to I80. Highs this weekend will only be in the single digits and teens for areas down to I80. Dangerous wind chills of -20 degrees or colder are increasingly likely, especially north of I90. The graphic below shows the temperatures on Sunday morning.
