Grayling Trail Report – Fay’s Motel – 12/21
Greetings Sledders, Please excuse the delay in getting this out but we’ve been waiting on the forecasts to settle in on snowfall projections related to this event that’s supposedly going to unfold on us. Unfortunately the various weather sources that we all use are still pretty far apart. There’s everything from an inch to 4 plus being kicked around so we’re really in the dark and at the mercy of Mother Nature once again. It’s in these brief moments of uncertainty when I occasionally try to reach back in my memory banks and remember the words of wisdom that my Grandfather would impart upon me. Right now the trails are in poor condition and we need several inches of snow in order to fire up the groomers and get started again. We were in the panning process last Saturday and got roughly half of the trails done before we had to shut everything down on Sunday because sled traffic had the snow that we did have pretty well beat down. Our drivers are good at what they do and are careful with the trails this time of the year but you can’t expect them to make a silk purse out of anything because that’s a completely different skill set. Temps look to be on our side so whatever we do get out of this system or Lake Effect will stick around, in fact it looks like next week will be under armor cold so be sure to bring them along. We will get out a report on Sunday and hopefully be in a position to give you something more definitive.
