TRAVERSE CITY AREA UPDATE via Grand Traverse Area Snowmobile Club – Last week we groomed a few days then it warmed up on Sunday and we have had them parked since. However, cold has arrived and it is currently snowing with a few inches forecasted tonight. Every day for the next week has cold and snow, so hopefully we can get back out grooming soon. I would say trails are rideable in only parts, but poor conditions. Temperatures also climb above freezing through the overnight, remaining there until Thursday evening. The bad news is that gusty winds return late tonight into Thursday. Snow will continue to spread across the area, leading to 1-2" of wet accumulations for many south of the bridge before switching over rain. Strong winds are expected today with gusts to 40+ mph, potentially leading to more down trees and limbs from recent icing. This could lead to dangerous conditions for those without power or a safe source of heat. Does anyone have any information that would explain why Antrim County was excluded from the the governor’s State of Emergency?
